Over the last few years the YouTube monthly active users number by country, in millions, has increased a large amount for example in the United States 167.4 Million people use Youtube for entertainment and educational reasons. One of the main reasons for such a phenomenal number of active users YouTube has is due to the content that is being uploaded all the time, with 300 hours of HD video content being uploaded every minute. This number has increased 37x from 2007 to 2015 and continues to constantly increase every year, day to day, due to the trend and popularity of YouTube.
In the image above is a metric that illustrated how much time all of these millions of users spend on YouTube. According to VAB data from 2017, 1163 minutes or 19 hours a month people spend on watching various videos. They was an increase in hours per minute, from 8 hours per minute in 2007 to more recently 300 hours per minute in 2015. In a shred percentage with Netflix (40%), Hulu (14%), Amazon Prime (7%) and other (21%) you consists of an overall of 18%, which means that only 18% of the population use YouTube for video content streaming. The way that YouTube reach and attract different audiences, is by creating different apps that contain different content for different audiences. For example YouTube have created a app that is for Children, called YouTube Kids. This app contains content that is appropriate and made ideally for children. It is appropriate for the targeted audience, children, because all the content that is posted and uploaded onto YouTube Kids is family and children friendly. Their YouTube Music app is targeting their more music oriented audience members, so that they can encourage them to listen to their favorite artists and their favorite music on their app for a small cost of £9.99 and 1 month for free. This app allows you to find all types of music based on your taste, the app also shows the music videos and allows you to listen to music when ever and where ever you want.
On the original YouTube app and website the content that is available for the audience is broad and varied depending on what the audience prefers. For example there is a whole beauty community of YouTubers that has become extremely popular in the YouTube Community. This fulfills the beauty obsessed audience members. There are also other content that is available such home improvements and interior designs so that the Interior designs community are attracted to using YouTube to gain inspiration. There are also comedy videos from comedy influencers, that are targeted towards comedy fans, as well as reviewing channels that review products, apps, films and TV shows. This entices viewers that enjoy reviewing as well as help to inform viewers that may be interested in the product that they are watching be reviewed.
YouTube is also used by advertising and marketing companies as well as by brands to advertise and upload videos that promote their brand and products. They do this so that they can communicate and inform their target audience about up and coming products and campaigns. They also use YouTube to promote their brands and products by sponsoring and collaborating with social media influencers that upload YouTube Videos so that the influence can promote the brands and their products, this is called cross-promotion.
At the moment a big trend that is occurring in the YouTube Community is Vlogging and vloggers. This is a try of YouTube personality that films "Vlogs" their life and uploads it to YouTube so that the fans that they gain can keep up with their life, as well as be inspired by their favorite Social Media Influencers. YouTube allows these influencers to gain a specific celebrity status that is called being a Social Media Influencer. This is because they have a online presence that allows them to have fame, success and fans just like a regular celebrity just at a different level. Being a Social Media Influencer has a negative connotation a stereotype and goes along with it due to it being the new type and wave of fame.
Because of the different methods of advertising that YouTube has they can promote and advertise their different types of content to all of the different target audiences. They do this by creating adverts that promote their apps and the different types of content. For example they created a advert for that shows how YouTube Music works, as well as what it offers for the public. This advertisement is targeted towards the audience members that are music lovers and that are trying to find an easy and cheap method to listen to music whenever and where ever they want. YouTube has also created other advertisements that are used to promote their other features, such as when they are promoting their premium option, they consistently give the option on YouTube videos to sign up for premium or to try out their one free month, this done to encourage users to start using premium due to the content that is posted on the premium version of YouTube.
Due to all the different types of content that is produced and uploaded on the video streaming site, this attracts all different types of audience members as they may enjoy watching all types of different videos, such as comedy, cooking, baking, gaming, vlogs, reviews, trailers, interviews or even just music videos. From the cookie system that every technological device has, on YouTube it will show videos on their explore page of recommended videos that they have gathered from the users watch history, this then entices the users to continue using YouTube.

YouTube is a free online video sharing service that allows their users to watch videos posted by other users. It is also a platform that allows people to create their own content and then upload videos. The service was started as an independent website in 2005 and was then acquired by Google in 2006. This service is available to access over all types of products, ranging from smartphones (BlackBoxes), to Tv, more specifically Smart Tv and Tv that have Google ChromeCast or Amazon FireStick, as well as tablets and computer/laptops.

YouTube can be accessed and used by people from all over the world, from all types of backgrounds. Which means that there is a wide range of videos and content available, for example films and TV shows that you can pay for, such as 'Creed II' which you can watch on YouTube from £3.49. It can be watched on Smartphones, Laptops, Computers, Tablets, Smart TV's and on regular TV's through products such as, Amazon Fire Stick and Google's Chrome cast. YouTube can then be accessed through their app, on google and on safari, meaning that it is accessible in any way and it is open to the public 24/7. These are successful methods of accessibility as is allows everyone and anyone in the world to stream and watch videos during anytime and where ever they want, as long as they own at least one of these products, which most people in the world due, or they at least own a smartphone. This also allows all types of different audience to be reached, as it allows everyone around the world to watch the content that they want to watch on the video streaming service, whether its educational videos, like science revision videos, or entertainment videos created by the publics favorite social media influencers, such as KSI or PewDiPi.
